Cellular response to environmental constraints

The most remarkable aspect of living tissue is their ability to maintain mechanical integrity as they are submitted to external forces such as those implicated in tissue remodeling (cell intercalation, cell migration, and cell polarization). The maintenance of such integrity is a critical feature for tissue homeostasis and highly depends on the regulation of cell adhesion, shape and contractility.

In the lab, we develop a combination of micro-patterned and active substrates, optical technics and traction force microscopy (TFM) in order to understand how mechanical forces are sensed or produced by the cells. Our approach includes the theoretical physical modeling for signal transduction and cell signalization (cell-cell and cell-substrate adhesion).
