Halogen chemistry over the sea ice in the Antarctic winter and spring

LGGE, Grenoble, on October 26th to 29th

Dear participants of the Polarstern 2013 projects,

The workshop Halogen chemistry over the sea ice in the Antarctic winter and spring will take place from Monday 26th of October to Wednesday 28th of October at LGGE, Grenoble in France. We plan to start on Monday at 2 pm by the registration and the local participants will welcome you. We will actually start the workshop at 3 pm and we plan to finish on Wednesday around noon. We propose to organize the workshop around 9 main topics concerning three main subjects: snow, sea ice and atmospheric chemistry. You are all invited to participate in each of these topics. We have already identified some of you to present results regarding the identified topics. These results can be preliminary and the minimum information should include what was measured during which periods. One major idea of the workshop is to identify which groups can collaborate on which data for further analysis. We estimated for each topic around one hour (knowing that some topics need less and others more time). It is important for us that we have ample time for open discussions. We reserved the Wednesday morning for discussions on overall conclusions, on data sharing and access, on publications, and on possible future projects.

The workshop will be open to anybody interested. If you have colleagues that might be interested in participating, don’t hesitate to pass on the information about the workshop. If you know of other candidates with potential interests, please let us know.

We hope to see you very soon at the workshop. Best regards,

Guillaume Méjean, Bruno Jourdain and Hans-Werner Jacobi
