A first demonstration

 

 

A first demonstration was realized on a weak transition of acetylene (C2H2) around 860 nm. The cavity was of relatively weak finesse, what gave a path gone through by only 120 m. We distinguish in blue the absorption lines of the acetylene in the spectrum of the laser in red transmitted by the cavity.

An application in the blue

 

 

The laser Ti:Sa is doubled in frequency to reach(affect) 420 nm where is the harmonious transition of HCCH with 8 quanta of excitement CH.
The finesse of the cavity was around 3000, what corresponds to a gone through path close to 900 m.
In 30 seconds of acquisition, the noise was equivalent to an absorption of
10-8 cm-1.

 

 

 

Study of a plasma discharge in nitrogen

 

 

 

 

The laser Ti:Sa is doubled in frequency to achieve this time 390 nm to study the first band of absorption of the ion N2+ in a continuous discharge in 1 to torr of nitrogen. The spectre is compared with a simulation.
The finesse of the cavity was very moderate, approximately 150, what corresponds to a gone through path close to 50 m in the discharge. The spectre is obtained in 10 with a resolution of 2pm.
